Hysterectomy

A hysterectomy is the last resort for treating various severe issues like heavy periods caused by fibroids, pelvic pain caused by endometriosis, or unsuccessfully treated pelvic inflammatory disease (PID). In such cases, surgically removing the uterus and cervix is the recommended course of treatment. A hysterectomy can be total, subtotal, or radical depending on the severity of the case that differs from patient to patient.

oophorectomy

Oophorectomy

Removal of one or both of the ovaries due to conditions such as ovarian cancer or endometriosis is conducted in a procedure called Oophorectomy. ovaries contain eggs and produce hormones that control the menstrual cycle in women. An oophorectomy can be performed as an open surgery, using a laparoscope, or as a robotic procedure which is dependent on the severity of the case. Laparoscopic or robotic oophorectomy usually offers quicker recovery, less pain, and a shorter hospital stay. But these procedures aren’t appropriate for everyone, and in some cases, a surgery that begins as laparoscopic may need to be converted to an open procedure during the operation.

Cesarean Section

Cesarean Section

A cesarean section, also called a C-section, is a surgery performed to deliver a baby through the abdomen. This happens in cases where vaginal delivery is not recommended, or may prove to be a greater risk to the health of the baby or mother. A C-section sometimes is scheduled in advance and may also be unscheduled as circumstances change in the course of labour and delivery. An unscheduled cesarean is not the same as an emergency cesarean, which is done when there is an immediate risk to a mother or baby that cannot be resolved without immediate delivery.

Hysteroscopy

Hysteroscopy

Hysteroscopy is a procedure in which a small-diameter device with a light and a small camera is inserted into the uterus through the vaginal opening. Diagnostically, this procedure is conducted to confirm test results visually, whereas surgically, it is used to remove fibroids or fix abnormal bleeding. In situations where the procedure is being used for surgery, the surgical devices are also inserted using the hysteroscope tube.
