As a mother, it was deeply traumatizing to watch my 5.5-year-old daughter suffer from severe leg pain and stiffness for an entire year. Every morning, she woke up with a stiff left leg and struggled to walk normally, followed by intense pain at night. Our initial pediatrician could not identify the cause. When the symptoms returned two months later, we were referred to a pediatric orthopedist at Motherhood Hospital, who prescribed Ibugesic syrup for temporary relief. Because the pain persisted, we consulted a pediatric rheumatologist at Manipal Hospital. Despite exhaustive blood tests and scans coming back completely normal, she was diagnosed with transient synovitis, and I was told she would improve as her immunity grew. Frustrated by a year of incorrect treatments, we finally consulted Dr. Subbaiah yesterday. Within two minutes, he confidently diagnosed her with a severe Vitamin D deficiency. A subsequent blood test confirmed his diagnosis, showing her level was critically low at just 15 ng/mL. I am incredibly grateful to Dr. Subbaiah for his expertise and for finally giving my child the correct path to recovery.
